Before I had kids, I use to hear mothers say that motherhood was one of the most challenging, yet most rewarding experience. I really didn’t understand the meaning of that until my twin stepsons came to live with my husband and I when they were ten years old. I think my biggest challenge at the time was having to go from being the weekend “fun” mom to now being a mom who had to enforce rules, responsibility, as well as, being a nurturer. Four years later we added another little boy, our little firecracker. Now it was learning how to be a mom to a newborn and now teenage boys. Let’s just say the conversations that go on in Campbell household could be its own reality show.
As mom, the best accomplishment has been watching my children grow and settle into their own personalities. Can I be honest for a moment? Being a mother is overwhelming and at times, and definitely isn’t for the “thin skinned” and if you aren’t careful you can lose yourself in what I like to call the monotony of motherhood. One day you’ll look in the mirror and realize that it has been months since you’ve had your brows threaded or it has been a while since you’ve taken that hot bath with aromatherapy oils you love so much. I believe it’s important to still remember the little things that make you feel beautiful and great about yourself. That’s one of the reasons I design jewelry for women. I love helping women feel great and confident about themselves. Sometimes the simplest jewelry piece can change the mood of a person.
This Mother’s Day post is dedicated to all my rock star moms out there. Truth be told we’re all rock stars, you almost need to be in order to be a mom today.
